From the Manufacturer
Panasonic WhisperLine fans are designed for multiple-task ventilation. This means that you can ventilate multiple areas or multiple rooms with just one fan. For example, you can place inlets over the shower, tub, toilet and/or vanity in a single bathroom and still use just one fan. In recent years, homes have become more airtight and energy efficient. While this lowers the cost to heat and air-condition a home, it also retains pollutants that can be hazardous to its occupants. One way to improve the air quality of the home is through whole-house ventilation with a Panasonic WhisperLine fan which removes stale air and provides fresh air on a slow, continuous basis. The Panasonic FV-30NLF1 WhisperLine 340 CFM In-Line Fan has a totally enclosed condenser motor and a large, double suction blower wheel to quietly move air. The blower wheel is designed to draw air in from both sides allowing more area for the air to enter the wheel. Panasonic fans are quiet enough that you might not even know they're on. This fan is designed to give you continuous, trouble-free operation for many years due to its high-quality components and permanently lubricated motors which wear at a slower pace. We designed the electrical configuration of this model's condenser motor to allow it to operate at lower temperatures, increasing the life of the motor and bearings. The fan housing is made of heavy-gauge zinc galvanized steel and painted to protect it from rust. This in-line fan fits a 6-Inch duct and can be installed in five different positions and joist, truss and suspension brackets are included to help make your installation as easy as possible. With a 1.7 sone level and rated 340 cubic feet per minute, this fan is Energy Star qualified. The Panasonic FV-30NLF1 WhisperLine 340 CFM In-Line Fan is covered by a manufacturer warranty for period of three years from the date of the original purchase and is sold one item per package.

5Absotively Quiet
By JimBob
I love these fans. I bought 2 for my house. They are absolutely the quietest fan you never heard. The 30NLF1 is oversized for my small bathrooms...the 20NLF1 would have sufficed. This fan is so quiet, I have to stick my head out of the shower to hear it running. I can't believe anyone would be disappointed with this choice.

To clarify for the lone dissenter in these reviews:
They are meant to be installed to the structure of your house. They are not portable so they come with a junction box for wiring that you supply.

5An excellent fan
By Whisper
This replaces a 25 year old kitchen fan that took 10-20 on/off cycles to start without squealing like
a pig in distress. Wow- what a difference!

My first surprise was the note in the instructions that this unit should not be placed over any cooking
appliance. So I took off the inspection cover to see why. The motor appears to be fully sealed and out of the
direct airstream but it is to the side of the fan squirrel cage wheel and in the exhaust air chamber.
Since my old exhaust duct showed little signs of grease buildup I chose to proceed with installation in spite of
the Panasonic warning. I will add to this review in the future if that proves to be a mistake- but I doubt it will.

Almost everything about the fan exhibits quality- complete set of good mounting hardware, a robust housing,
very quiet motor and even fairly understandable instructions (it's Japanese) plus a 3 year warranty.

A couple of small complaints- the two tapered end bells which the 6" duct slips over have sharp burrs
inside and since these are the two most obvious handles to lift the fan with -it's Ouch to the unwary!
Fortunately the blood washes off the fan housing easily.

The other complaint is really a minor design flaw. The 1.5 x5 x 3.5 electrical connection box must be removed
to open up the inspection port- not a big deal- but it is the only example of careless design that I found.

The fan box is 15.25 long x 11W x 11D (12.5D including the Electrical box)so it can mount between Joists 16" on center
but its too high to fit below the attic floor over 2x10 joists. I chose to mount it on top of the floor joists to
preserve the attic insulation depth and this made adjusting the fan position to join the ductwork pretty easy.

In use it's a dream. It's whisper quiet and blows a strong wind even with 3 elbows, a 3.5 x 10 wide transition
and about 12 feet of ductwork to the outside.

We love it!

5Just What I Was Looking For
By John
I wanted to replace my noisy Broan 502 exhaust fan with something much quieter in my workshop. This thing really sucks! Like almost 100 more cfm than the 502. I used the hanger option and attached the hanging bracket to the subfloor inbetween the joists. Then used two inlcuded short brackets to keep the unit from swaying off the hanging brackets by attaching them to the bottom of the joists.

If I was building or remodeling a bathroom(s), this would be my only choice for a highly efficient and whisper quiet exhaust fan. Nice engineering and rock solidly built.
