Nutone 9093WH Deluxe Heat-A-Ventlite 70 CFM 1500-Watt Heater with Ventilator and Incandescent Ceiling Light, White

Product Description

Combining comfort and convenience, this reliable 9093WH Heat-A-Ventlite by Nutone provides a 1500-watt 70 CFM fan-forced heater, a powerful air ventilator, and a bright ceiling light--all in one. The light uses a standard 100-watt incandescent bulb, as well as a 7-watt incandescent bulb for the bonus night-light feature (bulbs not included). The unit offers a stylish, yet inconspicuous addition to the room thanks to its sleek one-piece diecast grille with a pebble-texture bezel and its 8-inch-diameter glass lens that extends only 3 inches down from the ceiling. Even more, the fixture comes with automatic reset thermal protection and an electronically balanced centrifugal blower wheel that forces heat evenly throughout the room for overall soothing warmth and coziness. Best of all, it installs easily and comes with detailed instructions to ensure a correct fitting. The unit's expansion-type hanger bars allow for joists up to 24 inches on center and mounting brackets that adjust for up to 3/4-inch plaster thickness. The unit connects to any standard 4-inch round duct, and its detachable junction box provides three wiring knockouts. A wall switch with separate on/off for all four functions comes included. Available in various finishes to accommodate any decor, the heater/ventilator/light combo's housing measures 13-1/4 inches in diameter by 7-1/2 inches deep.

From the Manufacturer
In the midst of the Great Depression, two aggressive young men emerged with two new products that would make major contributions to the housing industry. In 1932, Henry Broan developed and manufactured a kitchen fan called the Motordor Fan that provided quiet and efficient kitchen ventilation. His creation launched what is today known as Broan-NuTone LLC. Four years later, in 1936, J. Ralph Corbett developed a melodious door chime replacing the obnoxious door buzzer of the time. His development launched what is today known as NuTone, Inc. Both men, headquartered in the Midwest, started their companies with a simple product and a few employees. Each expanded their companies, creating revolutionary new products that provided unmatched conveniences for homeowners nationwide. Both companies quickly became global competitors and continued to provide innovative, superior products to meet the needs of consumers. In 1981, Broan Mfg. Co., Inc. was acquired by Nortek, Inc. and became the lead company of Nortek's Residential Building Products Group, which was named the Broan Group. During this same time period, NuTone was sold to Scovill Manufacturing in 1967 and was then acquired by Williams plc in 1991. In 1998, Nortek acquired NuTone, adding it to the Broan Group and renaming the group the Broan-NuTone Group. Then, in January 2000, Broan Mfg. Co., Inc. became Broan-NuTone LLC, with NuTone Inc., Aubrey Manufacturing, Inc. and Rangaire LP as subsidiaries. Today, Broan-NuTone LLC is headquartered in Hartford, Wis. and employs more than 3,200 people in eight countries on three continents. It is North America's largest producer of residential ventilation products such as range hoods, ventilation fans and indoor air quality products and also holds major market positions in chimes, central vacuums, intercom systems, medicine cabinets, built-in electric heaters, whole-house fans, attic ventilators, paddle fans, ironing centers, trash compactors and speakers.

3Some things for consideration
By Michelle
This unit comes with its own wall switch: two rocker switches that control all four elements (light, night light, heater, and vent). Not needing the night light feature, at all, I decided to buy a separate Nutone switch Broan-Nutone P66W Fan Control Switch. The 3 unit switch works just fine.

The unit is heavy enough that it will get a bit tiresome installing it, but it's very sturdy overall. I am noticing some rattling issues, but it may not be level (there were three of us working on this, and I haven't had a chance to "check their work" yet...). Loosening the grille seems to silence the rattling somewhat.

We may just need to look things over again, but this fan doesn't pass the toilet paper test, at all. Holding a long, loose piece of tissue ON the fan doesn't even move the paper one iota. We may have something blocking the damper, but honestly, if we do everything we know to and there is still no suction? Those three stars are dropping to one. [09/16/11: We discovered that for whatever reason, using 2-ply toilet paper for your test yields the aforementioned results. 1-ply works just fine. hehe!]

The "heater" reminds me of a pellet stove in that it blows a lot of cold air around before the unit warms up; and even after warming up, the air still felt chilly because of the force of the fan (why can't the vent be this powerful and the heater be as calm as the vent??).

The particular model for sale on Amazon only comes with a white grille, but if you search the web for Nutone 9093CH you can find some sites offering the unit in chrome (likewise, there is a brass grille available as well. And the same site will sell you a grille only in the style of your choosing. Handy info to have if you're looking for this unit in something other than white.

4Retro fit
By Synlube
This Nutone heater-vent is a replacement for a orginal installation. This was a perfect fit with the same wiring color code and hardware. The one I replaced had been in the house for over 30 years.
The shipment was on time and packaged great.

5works great
By GEORGE EPPERSON
The heater is very functional and puts out a lot of heat from the ceiling. At first I was was concerned it would not heat as much as a floor heater - no problem. It is fairly quiet for it's output but would not win first prize. The vent and fan are about even in their noise. The nite lite feature designed for the old pre fluorescent days is a little silly as it only has space for a 7 watt small incandescent which draws 50% of a fluorescent bulb likely used. We still use it, however.
