By SLHMV
Just had this fan installed by my contractor. Fan is moderately quiet, though I've heard quieter. It is fine unless you are aiming for something that is "whisper quiet" or barely audible. It is also attractive; fits fine in my contemporary/modern decor (I thought it might look too retro or deco, but that isn't the case).
Now, the design flaws:
a) the amount of space between the light bulb socket and a metal tab that projects perpendicular from the base plate is so small, any conventional incandescent bulb will not fit. Even the smallest bulb I had in the house wouldn't fit. I'm sure I can get smaller bulbs specifically for ceiling fans, but it would be nice if product documentation mentioned something about this requirement (it just says the fixture takes 60W A15 bulbs).
b) to mount the glass shade, you have to line up the threaded (male) metal post that sticks down from the ceiling with the threaded (female) post that projects up from the inside of the bracket that houses the shade. The trick is, you have to do this blind; there is no way to actually see what you are doing. My solution will be to make some faint "registration marks" on the ceiling to indicate the correct position of the shade, so that next time I have to screw it on, it should be a bit easier.

By E. Henry Thripshaw
I really like it - the look, it is very quiet and it moves a lot of air. However, note the irregular sized ceiling hole - check your current size if replacing an existing system as I did. I had to do some ceiling patching - no big deal, it was worth it.
12 March 2011 Update: fan starting to make unhappy noises.

By lg212
Yes, I bought two of these lamps/fans. They work very well and look great in my vintage 1965 home with small 5 x 8 bathrooms. The profile is not to deep so they do not over power the room. The fans are quiet and the lamp lights up the room very well. They were easy to install even if the handy man was not so handy. Everything was included in the kit. The fan works very well takes the humidity out of the room also the bathroom mirror is never foggy. I also purchased a great switch that turns the fixture off with a timer and allows you to use either the lamp or fan or both.
